Since graduating from JMU in 2003 with a BFA in drawing, Troy has worked as a professional artist. He spent several years as a freelance illustrator working with local architect firms making facade renderings and detail sketches. In 2007, Troy started teaching full time at an elementary school in Waynesboro, VA. Over time his drawings started to accumulate in his studio. Some left as gifts, some hang on the walls, and some went back into the portfolio. With each passing year it became more apparent that colored pencil should be his sole focus, he sloughed off all other media and dove headfirst into drawing. Wanting to share his art with more then friends and family he started a full time art business in 2013. Since that year he has done more than 30 art festivals each year and has participated in dozens of gallery shows. With an eye for detail and the need to share his experiences in nature he has brought a unique perspective to the art community.
